chéile

the tree and the television

walked through the park;

they enjoyed each other

and lingered after dark

tv said: “all they do is watch me;

sometimes they slap the top,

and now the midgets came;

they poke the screens non-stop”

tree said: “I was once revered;

and died for many huts

now they rake my children;

and sell bags of my nuts

“odd things, all those

little shaved monkeys

they all need my wood &

they’re your pixel junkies”

we should be in charge

have the kingdom’s keys

we could live in peace

tv’s and trees
