siúcra

the wind has turned grey

leaves whisper on the ground

wax drips in grinning pumpkins

all hallow’s comes around

she stares at the children

sugar dropping in the bag

none ever see her

ancient hungry hag

they drift off with candy

as mother pulls the door

morning will be different

there’s something

scratching on

the floor
